The names Nicky. I like music. I like sharing music. Music is like my life, so I'm gonna share that with you. :3 I'll post something I've found once in a whenever I feel like.
Enjoy!
I feel as if I’m the only one excited for Miike Snow’s new album. Seriously, judging from “Devil’s Work” this album should be amazing.
I have to say this music video for Ice Cream by Battles is one of the most interest (and mind screwing) videos I’ve ever seen.
God I love Oberhofer. I can’t wait till his album comes out!
Battles is a perfect meld of instruments and noisy, precise electronics and Gloss Drop is a prime example of this. Its kind of as if they take traditional music and fuse it with rocket science. This album is really quite brilliant, with lots of funness to suck you into the eccentrically laden electronics. And, as the cover suggests, it is quite tasty, with “Ice Cream” featuring Matias Aguyao serving as there biggest and very bubbly single.
Favorite Tracks: “Ice Cream” “Wall Street” “Sundome” “Africastle”
This is Band Of Skulls amazing new album.
Dude. I’ve been waiting for this thing for like a year so that they would have more than 12 songs and they finally have it! Sweet Sour is practically everything someone could ask for: a band that changes their sound somewhat as they undoubtedly change, but keep true to their bluesy, garage roots. And, as the name claims, it is wonderfully delicious, and there’s plenty of bite from this modernly old boned classic.
Favorite Tracks: “Navigate” (far and away my favorite song from this album, and I can’t wait to learn to play it, once it gets tabbed) “Sweet Sour” “The Devil Takes Care Of His Own” “You’re Not Pretty But You Got It Goin’ On”
Air is my favorite indie band, and their new album, Le Voyage Dans La Lune is no exception from their phenomenal track record. Its no Moon Safari, but should we really be expecting that from the aging French duo? (we can dream though…) Le Voyage brings Air back to their more experimental days and away from the weird, unwanted pop of Love 2. Overall it is a great album by one of the best contemporary bands of all time.
I was gonna talk about this the day it came out (Tuesday) but life happened, you know?
Favorite Tracks: “Sonic Armada” “Seven Stars” “Moon Fever” ”Parade” “Lava”
I haven’t posted for a week. This is what Skyward Sword does to your life.
I haven’t listened to much music since my new Legend of Zelda love affair, but there are a few things I have listened to, such as Papercuts. This album, You Can Have What You Want, has brought me through some tough times lately. Its soft, wonderful indie-pop. It’s not melancholic, its not sad, its just… solemnly sweet. The prominent organ and the loud but muffled bass drives this fantastic sound. Before I thought this was background music, but now I see it for what it is: amazing.
Favorite Tracks: “Future Primitive” “The Void” “A Peculiar Hallelujah” “A Dictator’s Lament”
It’s Soundtrack Sunday! Let’s start off with my favorite soundtrack of all time…
Howl’s Moving Castle has one of, if not the greatest soundtracks of all time. Joe Hisaishi is a musical wizard and really brings every single one of Hayao Miyazaki’s (main director at Studio Ghibli, Spirited Away, Ponyo, etc.) films to life. Of course Ghibli movies are always magical, but the music adds another layer of wonder to it. Whenever I listen to the music, I can imagine the scene perfectly.
Favorite Tracks: “Howl’s Moving Castle Theme” “The Boy Who Drank Stars” “Howl’s Moving Castle Ending” Sky Stroll”
Expect to see other Ghibli movies a lot on Sunday’s.
I’ve been seriously into post-rock recently, and have just added the fantastic God Is An Astronaut to my list of epic post-rock bands. This genre is something else: It takes you on mental journeys to discover the deeper meanings of the universe and yourself, and God Is An Astronaut is a prime example of this.
While still sounding as if it is all about the journey, All Is Violent, All Is Bright feels as if it has a purpose behind it, a purpose that the band is trying to yell at you from behind their guitars.
Fantastic album, fantastic genre, fantastic band.
Favorite Tracks: “All Is Violent, All Is Bright” “Fragile” “Fireflies And Empty Skies” “Suicide By Star”
